birthdays are twice as fun....and messy!

TWINS!! I have had the privilege of photographing these two cuties since they were born! Photographing twins is a BLAST! I love watching them interact and I also enjoy watching mom try to wrangle the two of them into one photograph! Mothers of twins are definitely part super hero. I don't know how they do it!
I have never seen two kids love cake so much!! They went crazy over it. WHAT A GREAT DAY!

turning ONE - cake smash

I love getting to follow a family through the first year of their child's life! What a blessing to get to capture this special year. This little boy has always been all smiles. I love getting to see his smiling face and see how much he has grown since out last session.
He is now ONE and so big and FUN!! We had a BLAST running around and exploring the park (and the dirt...what little boy doesn't love the dirt!). He also LOVED his cake! At the end he chased me around the park with cake trying to feed it to me and my camera..AHHH!!! WHAT A BLAST!

he thought it was pretty funny chasing me with cake!  :)

what to wear

With almost every single photo session I am asked the one big question that is on everyone's mind:

WHAT DO I WEAR?!

*This is my family and what we wore for our photo session*

This question terrifies people, causes them to lose sleep, and even causes some to avoid taking pictures all together! (the last one is just unacceptable folks....) Well, have no fear. I am here to help you calm down.

STOP

TAKE A DEEP BREATH

You can do this.

I am here to help!  :)

I had my family photographed by the amazing Megan Squires Photography, so I know EXACTLY what you are going through. I actually started having dreams about what we should wear!! I thought I would go crazy. I had to remind myself what I always tell my clients.

I follow these 3 simple rules:

#1 - Mom picks her clothes FIRST! "If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!" This is SO true when it comes to pictures. Moms, pick out your outfit and then match everyone else to YOU! I am serious! You will be glad you did!
#2 - Pick 3 or 4 colors for your clothing. For our photos I chose  orange, light blue and grey. We are not ALL wearing ALL of the colors, but our outfits are made up of these colors. This way you coordinate, but are not too "matchy matchy".
#3 - Be comfortable! If you don't normally wear high heels, then DON'T! We didn't even wear shoes for our family pictures because that was US! You want your family to shine, so be YOURSELF!!

The most important thing?   HAVE FUN!

Here are some of the amazing photographs from our session. How do you think I did planning our outfits?

onesie is from Antsy Pants
all other clothes are from Target!

CHRISTMAS mini SESSIONS!

Yep! It is already that time of year! Can you even believe it? I can't, but it is true!
So hurry up and book your Christmas Mini Session
These are MINI sessions, so they are only 30 minutes long.
**the perfect amount of time to do some pictures before the kids totally loose it.

Best part?! You don't even have to worry about finding a fantastic Christmas card. You get a custom designed Christmas Card with your session!! Check out last years Christmas blog post to see some of the fabulous cards I designed for those clients!

To reserve your time email me your top 3 time slots (they are in 30 minute increments, so you would email me 3 times such as 10am, 7:30 or 8).

I am looking forward to seeing you all there!!

being THREE is SUPER!

Being THREE really is super! I think three is a very fun age, and that is why this session is NOTHING BUT FUN!! I wanted it to really represent who he is and what he loves at this age. What little boy doesn't love to be a super hero? Running around fighting bad guys with his mighty fly swatter. Owen LOVES his red cowboy boots and will wear them any chance he gets. He also recently became potty trained, so the underpants were a GREAT way to show that off! I love that this photo shoot represents HIM and his wonderful FUN personality! We had a FANTASTIC time playing!

Our little roo is ONE!

I am still in shock than an entire year has passed by! How can my little roo be ONE?! Well he is, and what a CUTIE PIE! This kid is spunky, lovable, silly and full of smiles. I was could not wait to get to do a fun styled session with him. I got some disguise glasses at the 99 cent store (you know, those ones with the mustache and nose attached!). Popped out the lenses, took off the nose and they were perfect! I had my mother-in-law make him the cutest onesie EVER! She is great at sewing and it fit him PERFECTLY! I then grabbed a few old book and some balloons!
Here is what we got:

I am rather pleased with the outcome. What do you think?!

Busy TWO year olds

Watching my clients kids grow up is one of the best parts of my job!! I got to photograph this handsome little guy 3 times in the first year of his life! He was the happiest baby I have ever seen.
I LOVE toddlers. They are so much fun to photograph! They keep you busy, and boy did this guy make me work!!
He was running all over and we had a BLAST! Who says two is terrible?

from out of town | Emily Strawn Photography

Let me start off by saying "I LOVE MY CLIENTS!". I really do! Most of my work is from referrals. I love hearing about how they called me as soon as they saw the photos I had taken for their friend. I have even started offering my current clients a discount when they refer me! (check out the specials section on the blog for more info!)
So, I am always a little surprised (an excited) when a new client fins me simply by searching the Internet! That is exactly how this family found me! They were in town for 3 months visiting family and friends and wanted to get some family pictures done. The best part? They are from SWITZERLAND! Sweet! My first international client! I was THRILLED!
She had a onesie for her daughter. It was in French, but it says "It wasn't me who took the chocolate". So we had some fun with that at the end of our shoot!
